碩士 / 國立海洋大學 / 航運管理學系碩士在職專班 / 91 / Since the business of international freight transportation is spread throughout the world and involved with many kinds of transportation modes, it is very difficult for carriers or shippers to deal with respective matters personally. Nowadays, most of the carriers or shippers authorize shipping agents to take care of the complex procedure on behalf of them and therefore, shipping agent has become one of the important and essential parts of the international freight transportation.
This thesis confers the working systems and regulations of shipping agency in main Asian countries. Also, it dissects the operational costs and performances of some shipping agents in Asia by taking an international container carrier for instance. The purpose of this thesis is to comprehend the future plans of shipping agents, analyze their operation strategies and provide suggestions to shipping agents and carriers when they make strategic decisions.
