碩士 / 元智大學 / 資訊傳播學系 / 91 / Most of the design of current libray navigation system is based on machine/ technology instend of human/ usability. Many researches have indicated that readers prefer user-friendly libraries. Technology-driven design can not dig out users’ need and results in inappropriate library information systems. In this thesis, wireless technology is used to develop a libray navigation system prototype for Pocket PC users.
The efficiency of library resources can be improved with the convenience of mobility and instant accessibility of PDA and wireless technology. Users’ need of a friendly mobile navigation system for libraries is surveyed and fulfilled by “Scenario-Based Design”.
Usability evaluation indicated that the system developed by our method increased user efficiency in a library as well as user satisfaction. The concept of user-centered design in Scenario-Based Design is proved to be suitable for developing mobile services.
