The Relation Among Demanding Uncertainty,Economics of Scale and Strategy of Supply Chain for International Taiwanese Corporation / 海外台商需求不確定性、規模經濟與供應鏈策略關係之研究

碩士 / 大葉大學 / 國際企業管理學系碩士班 / 92 / To respond to the rapid pace of globalization, corporations are now facing the problem of how to uplift their competitiveness. Thus, “Global Logistic”, “Supply Chain Management”, and “Supply Chain Strategies” became the major subjects of corporate management.
This research is conducted on the subjects of overseas Taiwanese businesses. Through in-depth interviews and data collection, this study explores the relationships among various products/industries and the supply chains, as well as the differences among supply chain strategies chosen by different businesses — push, pull, or push-pull mixed. As Taiwanese businesses overseas are currently under the pressures of market competitiveness due to globalization, this research aims to provide overseas Taiwanese businesses a reference for their assessments and choices for the most suitable supply chain strategies.
For this study, we selected Taiwanese businesses overseas in four separate industries as subjects for case study. Through interviews, we analyzed and derived the following conclusions:
1. When an industry has high uncertainty in product demands and is low in scale economy, corporations in this industry tend to adopt the Pull supply chain strategy, for example, the computer industry.
2. When an industry has high uncertainty in product demands but is high in scale economy, corporations in this industry tend to adopt the Push-Pull mixed supply chain strategy, for example: the automobile industry.
3. When an industry has low uncertainty in product demands and is also low in scale economy, corporations in this industry tend to adopt the Push-Pull mixed supply chain strategy, for example, the consumer publishing industry.
4. When an industry has low uncertainty in product demands and is high in scale economy, corporations in this industry tend to adopt the Push supply chain strategy, for example, the food industry.
