碩士 / 銘傳大學 / 應用中國文學系碩士在職專班 / 92 / Lin Hai-yin, a giant in Taiwan literary circles in 1960s, edited the Supplement Section of the United Daily News and set up the Pure Literature Publication Company. She played the role of exalting large numbers of talents and spreading cultural seeds. Her devotion to the literary garden and the experiences in editing win her fame and popularity in Taiwan literary circles and have a great influence on the development of the post-war Taiwanese literature considerably. When the scholars in Taiwan and Mainland China study her works, they both emphasize her topic consciousness and writing skills . However, the former scholars reassure her unique status in literary circles. The latter study the combining modes of plots , the points of view of the characters and the literary forms and writing skills, which contributes to her artistic uniqueness.
As a researcher of Lin Hai-yin’s works, I study the relations between the forms and contents in her essays and novels, analyzing her themes in the aspect of children’s literature. This thesis involves the forms and contents of her novels in the perspective of aesthetics. To this day we still don’t have so many books available concerning Lin Hai-yin’s writing skills and the aesthetics in her novels. As a result, it encourages me to study her narrators’ points of view and topic consciousness as a basis. I hope to find something different in aesthetics in novels and have a further insight of her works.
I take the four principles by Zhu Guang-qian’s creation aesthetics: the instinct of forms and contents, mental distance, empathy and inner imitation as the research basis, analyzing, comparing and inducing the data in her works, such as “Evergreen”, “The Stories in Marriage” and so on. Some other related documents such as certain specific reference books, academic theses and articles in periodicals are also introduced.
And my thesis consists of seven chapters. The first chapter is about the motive, purpose, methods, criteria and expectation. The second chapter is to study the instinct of forms and contents in her works to acquire pure experiences in aesthetics. The third chapter involves the mental distance in her works with a view to transcending individual experiences. The fourth chapter is about the empathy function in her works in order to have a better understanding about the relations between empathy function and artistic aesthetics in novels.
The fifth chapter is about the inner imitation in her works for a better display of a spiritual aesthetic world concerning the characters in her novels. The sixth chapter studies the creation style in her works. As to the seventh chapter, it concludes the aesthetic values in her works, her achievements and her unique status in the literary history in Taiwan. Some reference documents are added to the end of the thesis.
The key words are as follows: Lin Hai-yin, aesthetics in novels, novels, aesthetics, female consciousness, rhetoric skills, characters, plots.
