Investigation of Primary Vegetation on Coastal Windbreak Burned Site in Taichung Harbor / 台中港海岸防風林火燒跡地初期植生調查

碩士 / 國立中興大學 / 水土保持學系 / 92 / Abstract
The primary vegetation growth on costal windbreak burned land was investigated in order to find the pioneer species and the best species for growing fire-break trees at the coastal windbreak area.
Results indicated that, plants growth and invasion are faster on mixed forest burned land than in monoculture Casuarina forest burned land. Plant species are more abundant on mixed forest burned land. The woody plants which can sprout quickly after burning are Melia azedarach L., Broussonetia papyrifera (L.) L’ Herit. ex Vent, Lantana camara L., Casuarina equisetiflolia L., Trema orientalis Blume., and Ficus superba Miq. Var.japonica Miq..
Soil pH, electrical conductivity and saturated hydraulic conductivity were changed after burning. Electrical conductivity of burned Casuarina forest soil is about 1868 µs/cm, and the saturated hydraulic conductivity is down to 0.014 mm/sec. High base concentration and low infiltration rate are unfavorable for plant growth. In order to build a suitable plant growth environment, soil should be amended on forest burned land especial for Casuarina.
