Research for Residential Environment of Historic Central Business District-With Special Reference to the Center of Five-Harbor District in Tainan City / 歷史性都心商業區的居住環境之研究-以五條港歷史區域之核心區為例

碩士 / 國立成功大學 / 建築學系碩博士班 / 92 / Although urban planning in modern times emphasizing on improve chaotic environment with zoning,but the totally functional segregation couldn’t manage residential environment and leading to urban deterioration.In order to raise the vitality of central business district and form good urban living environment,the city should keep life、working and leisure’s balance.Reference to the theories of mixed use、urban life improvement、conservation and regeneration of historic environment.Due to their convenient locatioin with concentrated facilities and commuting,central business district has given the resident much more convenience and options.However ,the high density of the early downtown area development also created traffic congestion and made environment not enough to fit modern life.These have given opportunity of build-up environment keeping collective memory in cultural and historic aspects. those can’t be reproduced.

Five-habor district is located in the central business district of Tainan city,and is endowed with water-way remains and ancient sites in block-inner.Even if the core of Five-habor district belongs to commercial zone,but the humane scale keep the residential environment remains.Under a hypothesis of promoting harmonization with newly and early downtown area regeneration.This study intends to reach three main goals:first,know well about the distribution of residential function and non-residential function,especially the mixed-use;second,understand the residents’ attitude about living in the central business district(including their wish and degree of satisfaction)
;third,plot out overall distribution of historical spaces and environment,consequently
understand the residents’ cognition.The research contents divided into five main topics,they are living-working relation、urban vitality、residential facilities、mixed-use structure of street block and livelihood historical environment.
