Pedogenesis of the Marine Soil at Liuchu Island / 琉球嶼海階土壤之化育作用

碩士 / 國立屏東科技大學 / 環境工程與科學系 / 92 / Abstract
In Taiwan, Liuchu Island is the only coral reef off-shore island of which had been listed in Da-Pang Bay National Scenic Area(DPBNSA). In order to replete the contents of environmental extention of DPBNSA, the marine soils of Liuchu Island were explored the pedogenesis in this study. Four pedons including Bairshawei(LC-1), Shafwu(LC-2), Hantzykoou(LC-3) and Dahfwu(LC-4) developed in different levels were selected, so as to bring out the relationship between the upheaval of crust and marine soils. Based on coral reef dating, LC-1 is 34,000 year, LC-2 is 31,600 year, LC-3 is 6,700 year and LC-4 is 6,240 year, respectivety. From the analytical results, they are silty clay loam, silty clay and clay in four pedons which pH values are between 5.5 and 7.9. For example LC-1 and LC-2. The soils of these two pedons on higher levels do not soak in water for a longer time and is leached by rains much more fiercely, so the pH value is lower. While as with higher base cations, but its bases saturation is under 35%; under the influence of marine sediments’ matrix, it contains higher manganese and the main clay minerals are illite, kaolinite, and vermiculite. In micromorphology, there are significant oriented clay coatings and ferriargillans translocated and accumluated in the lower parts of LC-1 and LC-2 pedons, and also phenomena of clay coatings as well as location sequence, while in LC-3 and LC-4 there are no clay illuviation or better pedogenesis, and it is still under the effects of matrix. According to Soil Taxonomy, LC-1 is Typic Paleudults, as LC-2 for Typic Hapludults, LC-3 for Lithic Dystrudepts, and LC-4 for Typic Dystrudepts. Pedogenesis of the marine soil in Liuchu Island relates significantly to how long does the terrace keep away from the sea, the longer the higher altitude and better pedogenesis, and all those evidences demonstrate the soil age belongs to post-incisive sequence. Therefore, the classification and the sequence of pedogenesis of those four marine soils from different upheaval times would be Inceptisol to Ultisol.
