An Evaluation of Using the Plastic Hidden Well and the Distribution Box For Sewerage Systems / 塑膠類陰井與配管箱使用於污水下水道之評析

碩士 / 國立海洋大學 / 河海工程學系碩士在職專班 / 92 / Sewerage systems are fundamental facilities for a modern city. Their functionalities include: improving the sanitation, purifying rivers and maintaining the health of people; therefore they are closely related to the welfare of citizens living in a city. Just as important as the peripheral nerves to a human being, the connection of sewers to the clients on the uppermost stream should be effectively deployed, and the quality of construction should be improved, so that the usefulness of sewerage systems could be maximized.
Most of the user’s sewers are operated at the back-alleys, and used the concrete hidden wells. Moving these heavy materials within such a limited space thus has become a difficult task, as some accidents have been reported. In order to expedite the construction process, elevate the construction quality, and enforce the construction safety, Sewerage Engineering Department Public Works Bureau Taipei City Government and some private companies have worked together to develop plastic hidden well, in the hope that this invention could help to achieve the above goals.
As the plastic hidden well is a relatively new concept, this thesis will discuss in-depth on the analysis of its appropriateness and evaluation of its use in practice, to conclude that the deployment of plastic sewers for public sewerage systems is a proper choice. It is especially true when back-alley construction is popular, and therefore plastic sewers may replace concrete sewers to become the main-steam sewers in the future. The successful experience could not only enhance the quality of construction and the quality of life for the citizens, but also could provide a good reference for the related departments in government or for the industrial people working in this field during their design, construction, and maintenance processes.
There are two types of shapes for a plastic distribution box: circular and rectangular, and each of them has its pros and cons. This thesis will compare their usefulness and appropriateness based on their uses in practice. According to their characteristics, each of them could be deployed into their suitable environments, and when necessary, both types could also be used together.
After a thorough evaluation, we have found that, the plastic hidden well, as a new facility, still leaves some room for future improvement. In the end of this thesis, we therefore make several suggestions, in order to compensate for its deficiency to achieve a better model, in the hope that the advised version could further improve the quality on the connection of sewers to clients.
