碩士 / 國立臺灣海洋大學 / 河海工程學系 / 92 / In the past few years, due to the typhoon-hits, the downpours wash out and erode the salient landform in the Shuanghsi river estuary, which changes the river courses frequently. However, the related departments and local personalities’ opinions about the reasons of this phenomenon are widely diverse. For the sake of diverse opinions, this study collects the data reports from the marine meteorological observatory over the years and the progress of the related facilities and installations. During the study, we focus on a fixed observation position in the Shuanghsi river estuary and take photographs on an irregular time schedule to see the river’s variation. In addition, we compare some aerial photographs with some past photographs of the Shuanghsi river estuary to do an integration analysis.
In this study, we not only analyze the reasons and process of the river estuary transition, but also propose the method of protection for reference. According to the study result, there are two conditions that appeared as follows:
1. The typhoon-hits only show the disaster of the variation of the river estuary. Realistically, the reason of causing this phenomenon is that the man-made constructions of the river bank interfered improperly in the past.
2. According to the statistics, we find that the growing unbalance phenomenon between the swash lose of base sand on the coast line and the sediment transport of the river is getting severely in the past ten years. If this phenomenon continues to happen and grow, it will be a very significant issue in the future to proceed an effectively protection measure on the coast line of this area.
