A Study of the Influence of Home Economics Extension Education on Fishermen's Quality of Life / 家政推廣教育對漁家生活品質影響之研究

碩士 / 國立臺灣海洋大學 / 應用經濟研究所 / 92 / The study probes into the assessment and effectiveness of home economics extension education. Scope of this research includes 40 fishermen’s association areas and 25 aquaculture production areas. From this result the four areas of fishermen’s quality of life, including health culture and education, political activities, economics & life, and community activities, and on these grounds set up the general index to fishermen’s quality of life.
The weighted averages method is used to calculate the index value to each detailed indicators, and then analyze the level of satisfaction of women attending the extension education. The Analysis Hierarchy Process (A.H.P.) is used to come up with the subjective understanding and outlooks of local leaders of the fishing areas, related scholars and professionals and government agencies, Relative to the importance of these subjective weights (from local leaders scholars and government agencies), each indicator is analyzed and compared according to order of priority, importance, satisfaction level among others. To finally come up with forward-looking and feasible responsive measures and suggestions. The following are summary of results from this research:
1.In the satisfaction level of fishermen’s quality of life index, Community activities level is the highest, health culture and education is next, political activity level is third , and lastly economics & life is the lowest .
2.The satisfaction level of participants before and after the home economics extension program went from 2.46 to 3.73, a 1.27 increase. This shows that home economics extension education has a positive influence on fishing villages, and proves the effectiveness of home economics extension education.
3.Local leaders and participants of the home economics extension education expressed “Very Helpful” and “Helpful” total over 80% on overall assessment of knowledge & ability attitude, improvement to fishery landscape, enhancement to fishing community harmony, influences to health and family conditions, etc.
4.In the analysis of fishermen’s quality of life index, community activities rank first and among detailed indicators, family conditions is most important. ,Although viewpoints are consistent in this area, there are differences in other areas.
5.The order of priority in according to results of women attending the extension education are health culture and education, community activities, economics & life, political activities.
6.The order of priority in according to importance of women attending the extension education are community activities, health culture and education, economics & life, political activities.
7.The order of priority in according to satisfaction level of women attending the extension education are community activities, health culture and education, economics & life, political activities.
The overall satisfaction indicators to fishermen’s quality of life established in this research are between 3 and 4, which is in between "average" and "satisfactory", showing that there's still room for improvement. It is suggested that future promotional work should refer to above findings to establish short, medium and long term goals, and work toward directions listed below in response to societal trends and raise fishermen's quality of life: (1) Initiate side jobs for fishing villages to increase source of income, raise fishermen's earnings. (2) Enhance promotional education training to improve labor quality. (3) Expand applicable resources to more participation levels of the society.
