碩士 / 國立臺灣海洋大學 / 商船學系所 / 92 / The purpose of this thesis is to study the application of WLAN to the internet on the sea. The signal strength and speed of 2.4GHz are investigated by using IEEE 802.11b and 802.11g under various environments.
From the results of investigation, it has shown that the signal strengths were decayed by distance, but the transmission rates were not affected very much above the threshold range.
For practical application of WLAN on the ships, it is very important to survey the threshold ranges for various Access Point under different environments.
