海峽兩岸小學英語師資培育與教學實施之比較研究--以台北市與大上海地區為例

碩士 / 國立台北師範學院 / 教育政策與管理研究所 / 92 / The purposes of this research are to investigate the practical conditions of elementary-school potential English teachers’ education and the instruction in elementary education on the both sides of Taiwan Strait, and to compare the difference, characteristics and problems. In this way, the researcher drew relative conclusions and proposed suggestions.
The conclusions to this research were:
1. About elementary-school potential English teachers education in Taiwan-
(1) the initial training of potential teachers was completed in short-term or
long-term ways;
(2) one-year long externship was required (new prescription:six-months length
was required );
(3) the qualification examination on elementary-school teachers was going to
applied;
(4) the in-service course provided to elementary-school English teachers were
plenty , yet lacking compulsion.
2. About elementary-school potential English teachers education in the
Shan-hai area-
(1) the high-school and elementary-school potential English teachers were both
cultivated in university education;
(2) the externship was completed within the four-year-university education;
(3) “diploma register” was the main method of the teachers’ qualification;
(4) in-service course was compulsive, cultivating elementary-school cadre
English teachers was a great characteristic.
3. About English instruction in Taipei city-
(1) the English course began from first grade in elementary school, two classes
every week;
(2) each school’s English textbooks were chosen and bought from different
publishers;
(3) students’ English ability index was arranged with 5 parts: listening, oral,
reading, writing, compositive application abilities;
(4) the testing methods applied to students were varied, and the elementary
students’ English ability examination was going to applied for remedial
teaching.
4. About English instruction in Shan-hai city-
(1) the English course began from first grade in elementary school; three to
five classes every week;
(2) three editions of English textbooks were applied in Shan-hai city;
(3) basic level and higher level were set to flexibly arrange students’ English
ability index;
(4) traditional paper-pen testing method was mainly applied.
Suggestions according to conclusions above were proposed as below:
1. Suggestions to Taiwan-
(1) externship and qualification examination should be carried out according to
each one’s subject, therefore subspecialty could be more emphasized;
(2) compulsion and demanding hours to teachers’ in-service course should be
up-rated;
(3) the English teaching frequency could be elevated by means of 1-and-1/2
class design;
(4) each grade’s English course should be arranged with different class ,to meet different learning need;
(5) the system of editing textbook should e re-established to solve the problem
of disjunction of material among different versions;
(6) the possibility of teaching depends on individual abilities should e included
in educational agenda in order to solve the difficulty of teaching caused y
different levels of students abilities;
(7) to promote the success of students with underachievement, the implement
of remedy teaching is necessary.
2. Suggestions to Shan-hai area-
(1) increase the length of externship and which should be carried out in a
convergent form;
(2) the cognition of school administration should be added onto the practicum;
(3) the instruction and testing method should vary to enrich students’ learning
experience.
