碩士 / 中國文化大學 / 觀光事業研究所 / 92 / In many Asian countries and areas, such as Taiwan, Japan, Hong Kong, Korea, China, etc., the group package tour (GPT) is one of the main modes of outbound travel. Taiwan is the second large outbound country in Asian travel market, China also has a tremendous potential in outbound travel market. The development of both two areas might be an influence to Asian outbound travel market. Although early and recent Taiwan/China studies provided useful information, they did not examine and compare the specific issues in both two areas. Consequently, the specific purpose of the study was to: extend the limited research on the emerging trends in both Taiwan and China’s outbound GPT market; and to explore the trends in Chinese outbound group package tour.
Our research employed in-depth interview method to collect research data. 15 top travel agency’s senior managers selected in Taiwan and China respectively were participated in the in-depth interviews. Content analysis was employed to analysis the interview data. Totally 456 categories were emerged (231 categories of Taiwan; 225 categories of China). The judge A and B, B and C’s intrajudge reliability were .802 and .858. Judge D’s interjudge reliability was .838. The categorization process can be regarded as reliable. Therefore 456 categories are formulated as the grounded model of the emerging trends in Chinese outbound GPT.
This study enables the researcher to explore and understand the meaning behind such general concepts of the emerging trends in Chinese outbound GPT. The result of this study implies certain extensions to the emerging trends in Chinese outbound GPT. The research findings have abundant implications for practitioners as well as academics.
