I Don''t Dive , But I Get Decompression Sickness~Changing Workers''Consciousness in the Decompression Sickness Controversy of the Taipei MRT Construction / 我不潛水、我有潛水夫病-台北捷運潛水夫症職業病勞工抗爭歷程對工人自身之影響與改變

碩士 / 世新大學 / 社會發展研究所 / 92 / I was once working as an organizer for a labor movement organization on organizing workers who have suffered from occupational injuries . Due to the delicate, complicated “ human relationship “ problems , I faced bottleneck on my organizer job . 3 years ago , I chose to position myself on the edge of the labor movement , now , I try to review the movement which I have participated as a researcher . I no longer just want to know or understand labors thus try to explore the possibility of the mental changes of labors , and the possibility of the change of the social structure .
When I was working with the labors who have suffered Decompression Sickness on Taipei subway construction project , we have faced the pressure from the government and from big construction companies. We tried to persuade each labor from fighting along . We tried to organized them , let them meet each other , let them feel for each other , and finally make them identify themselves as part of THE group . This labor movement project has made the labors understand that the compensation and justice on the laws won’t just fall from the sky . It requires their own hard work . The progress of this movement will sure reside in each labor’s life .
