碩士 / 淡江大學 / 產業經濟學系 / 92 / This paper provides a framework of trade-theoretic aspect of overseas patenting which we fit to a panel data of patenting in the U.S to investigate the national determinants of overseas patenting. The empirical results find that the behavior of overseas patenting is positive associated with export and outward direct investment, supporting the viewpoint that overseas patenting is mainly trade-related. Moreover, the determinants of overseas patenting vary substantially on the effects of international economic influences between developed and developing countries.
