A research on the learning effects of students taught by the school-based nature and technology curriculum at Battleship Rock in Beitou / 「自然與生活科技領域」學校本位課程發展及其學習成效之研究----以軍艦岩為例

碩士 / 臺北市立師範學院 / 科學教育研究所 / 92 / Abstract
For designing school-based curriculum(SBC) and editing the teaching materials for ecology conservation, the researcher and three other teachers of Linlong Primary school made a botanical inventory of Battleship Rock in Beitou. Furthermore, the researcher studied the differences of students’ understanding, attitudes and acts on nature conservation and ecology concept before and after outdoor teaching. The research was chiefly concerned about activities of SBC with six objectives. A pilot study on the teaching resources of plants and ecology of Battleship Rock was conducted. The effects on students’ understanding of nature conservation and ecology concepts throughout the above activities and the influences of above activities on students’ attitudes and acts toward nature conservation and ecology concepts were also analyzed. Furthermore, students’ points of view for outdoor teaching and both students’ and parents’ points of view for activities of SBC were studied.
A methodology of one-group pre-test and post-test design of quasi- experiment, combining with quantitative and qualitative research was conducted. Besides, tools of “Standardized evaluation of nature conservation and ecology concept of the upper grade students in elementary school ”designed by Shou-Ping Chen, both of “Evaluations on students’ attitudes and acts toward nature conservation and ecology concepts” and “Questionnaires on outdoor teaching” designed by the researcher were used in this research.
Two hundred and thirty-five vascular plants were recorded, which revealed the abundant resources of Battleship Rock. Eight kinds of plants, including Pieris taiwanensis Hayata and Pandanus odoratissimus L. were selected as the teaching materials. Amongst results of research on teaching activities of SBC, the analyses of paired samples t-test, revealed that activities of SBC is beneficial to students’ understanding of nature conservation and ecology concepts. The result also showed significant difference on the pre-test and post-test of the students’ scores of “Evaluations on students’ attitudes toward nature conservation”. Nevertheless, there were no significant difference on the pre-test and post-test of the students’ scores of “Evaluations on students’ acts toward nature conservation”. However, students thought that outdoor teaching were good for them and parents’ also regarded that SBC have good influences for their children.
This research revealed that if research teams can be well organized, it would be easier to design the best SBC with appropriate evaluation indicators. Moreover, with attempt to achieve effective outdoor teaching, teachers and the administrations of schools have to cooperate very well in addition to the teaching plans should be flexible selected and adjusted.
