This study choose Taiwanese MNCs that have found foreign subsidiaries in other countries to explorer the relationship between external network relationship, the importance and influence in MNCs of these subsidiaries, operating characteristics and the degree of control by headquarter. Through multiple regression and t-test analysis we hope that this empirical analysis will hope us to gain more information about the changing role of foreign subsidiaries.
After empirical analysis we found that when foreign subsidiaries develop deep embeddedness with its external network, will cause Taiwan headquarter delegate more decision making power of host country to them, increasing the Autonomy of foreign subsidiaries and have positive effect to their Corporate Entrepreneurship, but have no effect to the importance and influence in MNCs of these subsidiaries. The research also find the importance and influence in MNCs of these subsidiaries have positive relationship with foreign subsidiaries’ Corporate Entrepreneurship but have no relationship with the Autonomy of foreign subsidiaries. Besides, this empirical analysis test the negative relationship between degree of control by headquarter and foreign subsidiaries’ operation characteristics.
Finally, the research tests the Mediating Effect and found that operating characteristics play as mediating factor between external network, the importance and influence in MNCs of these subsidiaries and degree of control.
