Effects of water temperature and nutrient enrichment on epilithic periphyton in glide zones of the streams in Wulin area / 武陵地區水溫與營養鹽添加對溪流淺流區石附生藻類之影響

碩士 / 國立中興大學 / 生命科學系 / 93 / Effects of nutrients and water temperature on primary productivity and biomass of epilithic periphyton were studied in the streams of Wulin area. Five study sites were chosen according to the nutrient status. Experiments were conducted every season from February 2003 to April 2005. Environmental factors including water temperature, pH, current velocity, coverage, DIN and DIP were determined at the same time. Multiple regression analyses revealed that the increase of DIN and water temperature significantly explained the increase of biomass, and water temperature also explained the gross productivity. Nitrogen content (%) of green algae increase with DIN, implying the nutrient limitation. Nutrient enrichment experiments show that the primary productivity may be N limited, P limited or N and P co-limited at site Ch 1~ Ch 3 and site K in winter and autumn, but not in spring and summer. Interactive experiments of nutrient enrichment and water temperature indicate that water temperature was the main factor affecting the gross productivity. The biomass and gross production therefore might increase in summer when water temperature and nutrient loading were high.
