碩士 / 國立成功大學 / 系統及船舶機電工程學系碩博士班 / 93 / This dissertation presents a new vessel design for the use of fishing tuna. The new design is to be of international standard, conforming to future trends in the fishing trade.

  In the past, the majority of tuna fishing vessels were based on Japanese designs. This dissertation introduces a new design of greater width and length, much like the North European designs, allowing for better hull performance and more comfortable workspace.

  The new vessel design has a streamline configuration based on numerical calculations and model tests. The result data include analyzing boat resistance, stability, circumgyration, axial load, etc, and a systematic comparison with native fishing vessels.According to the comparisons, we found the advantages of the new design that includes enhancing stability,horsepower per unit,operating performance,seakeeping abilities and endurance, a safer working area and more commodious living space.

  This new design of greater width and length conforms to strict international regulations for fishing vessels and international trends regard this length vessel as a norm. Long-term ownership is an appealing idea to any proprietor and it is thus worth promoting such a design widely.
