碩士 / 國立體育學院 / 體育研究所 / 93 / The purpose of this study was to understand the difference between recreational scuba divers of different gender roles in scuba diving involvement level. According classification of Kim, Scott, & Croopton(1997), social- psychological involvement and behavioral involvement were used to measure leisure involvement in this study. A questionnaire was developed and distributed to recreational scuba divers who dived in Taiwan, possessed certified diving license, and did not view diving as occupation. Total 301 effective questionnaires (178 males, 59.1%; 123 females, 40.1%) were analyzed by descriptive statistics, factor analysis, independent t-test, and one-way ANOVA. The results showed as follow:
1. There was significant difference between males and females on leisure involvement.
2. The majority was androgynous of both male and female divers.
3. There was significant difference of gender role and leisure involvement between divers with different sex.
(1) There was significant difference on all dimensions of social-psychological involvement of male divers. However, masculine and androgynous divers showed higher degree of involvement.
(2) There was no significant difference only on ‘centrality” dimension of social-psychological involvement of female divers. However, masculine divers showed higher degree of involvement.
(3) There was significant difference on “participant” and ”mediated interaction” factors of behavior involvement between male and female divers. However, androgynous divers showed higher degree of involvement.
