基督教海外跨文化宣教人生涯抉擇經驗之探究

碩士 / 國立彰化師範大學 / 輔導與諮商學系所 / 93 / There are three main purposes that I would like to present in this research:Firstly, this survey is to understand the experiential connotation from the process of career decision-making, and the profound significance out of those experiences towards each individual. It is based on the view of holistic context by vertical analysis, targets on the cross-cultural mission-minded Christians. It is particularly noteworthy in those cases, how those connotations of choices have meant to them and influenced their decision-making and life achievement. Secondly, base on these research data, through horizontal cross-cases analysis, to develop a “miniature” substance theory of career choices for the cross -cultural mission-minded Christians, which is able to describe and explain how did they make their choice on certain decisions under certain specific conditions and the context of time. Finally, it is also the researcher’s personal expectation: through a deep and profound research on how did the Christian overseas cross-cultural mission-minded Christians make their career choices to help myself to clear up my personal confusion and anxiety as I face the matter of decision- making on life career choice. And it is also the main expectation I have for this research.
This research base on two Christian missionaries biographies along with information collected from profound semi-structural Interviews with four research participators. The theory of this research method adopts parts of the spirit of grounded theory and narrative research. The procedure of data processing can be roughly divided into three stages. On the first stage, I try to proceed semi-open coding within and between cases toward each biography text as well as the word-by-word interview draft, which is gradually collected. In other word, I attempt to grasp the significance of the whole through an understanding of a part. On the following stage, I will put the segments of the text back to the whole sequence of the story, use the individual participators as the principal part, in order to understand the whole thread of thought; and write down the narratives according to the category structure derived from the previous stage’s analysis. Finally, through the research method of grounded theory, analyzing principles of constantly comparing and asking questions, constantly taking notes, and constantly waving the red flag, to proceed cross-.case analysis and to discover a “miniature” substance theory, which is based on the research data and can describe and explain how do the oversea cross -cultural mission-minded Christians make career choices. The six participant's decision and actualization styles are guided by their core values of and feelings toward their life experiences.Their sense of well-being and meaning result from their commitment in pursuing and actualizing their life meaning and their abilities of career adjustment.
The research result shows that, on the part of connotation and significance of choices, there are five out six research participators display an transition from self-accomplishment of individualism to superego accomplishment, whereas one research participator chose to pursuit superego accomplishment since very young. This result is in consistent with the developing tendency of the three areas of psychology, superego psychology, and Christianity religious belief in respect of career choice connotations. From this research, five key influential factors, which caused this dramatic transition from self-accomplishment of individualism to superego accomplishment, have been discovered. They are: admitting the limitation of navigating their own life, being aware of the surpassing power of God, receiving the edification of religious value system, constantly and profoundly realizing a heart-felt superego love, and constantly experiencing a progressing faith building process, etc.
Finally, I will give an account of the limitation of this research and some self-examination from this researching process. An integration of research discoveries, research limitations and my own self-examination will be given, alone with some suggestions on the profession of counseling and consulting and future research.
