Using graphic data in shoreline change between Liwu estuary to Hualien estuary / 利用圖像資料研究立霧溪口到花蓮溪口之海濱線變遷

碩士 / 國立花蓮師範學院 / 鄉土文化研究所 / 93 / Taiwan island is often serious damaged because of storm surge in typhoon season. There is therefore a need to pay attention on shoreline change. The research area is in Hualien coast plane which is composed of sand beach and sea cliff. This area has almost 60% of population of Hualien county and artificial works. In last few decades, news about shore line retreat in this area are frequently reported without any supporting data.
This research uses three kinds of graphic data, the first is a 1:5000 aerial photo map, released in 1982 and 2000, respectively. The second is a 1:25000 Taiwan basic terrain map, including 1988, 1993, 1997, respectively. The third one is SPOT satellite images of 1994, 1996, 1998, 2000, and 2002. Those images took such step, digitize, georectified, image mosaic , , shoreline comparing ,following processes were adopted in analyzing the graphic data.
The results are, 1. The most eroded regions are between Liwu estuary and Sancha estuary with the area of 220881 m2 .(retreat 140 meter landward. ) As well as Nanbin and Hwaren of 298842 m2. (retreat 120 meter landward.) 2. From 1982 to 2000, Hualien coast plane (of 100km2) lost 0.71km2 during a 18 years period. The trend has slowed down in 1994, due to the artificial shore protection works. 3. The most factor of making shoreline change is the east jetty of Hualien port (built in 1992) resulting in the deposition of Meilan river river mouth and erosion of Nanbin area useful for its instantaneous and repetitive. 4. Using different period SPOT images to calculate Hualien coast plane’s slope is 1/30.08. 5. The most efficient and accuracy method to investigate shoreline change is using aerial photo map.
