A research on Grade 7 students’ learning about scientific words related to internal transport in plants and human circulatory system / 國一學生生物運輸概念相關科學語詞學習之研究

This study used questionnaire, interview and classroom observation to investigate 73 Grade 7 students’ learning and understanding of scientific terms related to internal transport in plants and human circulatory system including capillary action, mineral transport, nutrient produced by photosynthesis, cell waste and human breath. The research found that, after traditional lecturing instruction, only a small portion of students developed proper understanding of the related terms, while most of them did not. The study also found that students used anthropomorphism, facial meaning of the word, and related daily language to develop their understanding of the new terms they encountered.
