The study of maintenance and management on sheet-pile wharfs / 板樁式碼頭維護管理之探討

碩士 / 國立臺灣海洋大學 / 河海工程學系 / 93 / In the marine environment throughout the year, the sheet-pile wharfs are very likely to be eroded and degraded. To compound matters, due to its location in Pacific Ocean seismic belt, Taiwan is more susceptible to the injury made by frequent earthquakes. It has seriously harmed the harbor operation. Under such circumstances, it is necessary to take the precautious measure and establish the maintenance resolution.
The study first introduced the sheet-pile wharf and relative terms. Focusing on the degradation self-derived from the material of the sheet-pile type wharf and the function of external force, this study investigated on the possible accrued destruction mechanism, so as to establish periodic inspection items, inspection frequency, inspection method and the evaluation grade system for the corresponding degradation through the destruction mechanism. The detailed inspection as well as safety evaluation method has also been introduced in the study. The evaluation method used in this study was D.E.R.&U. Through the method, the performance status of the sheet-pile type wharf was assessed and the degradation speed of the object structure was better understood. The results may be used as the reference to further develop countermeasure for strengthening. Also, the repair and priority orders of strengthening may be determined through the U value. Finally, the strengthening method of the sheet-pile wharf was submitted and the sheet-pile type wharfs at Taipei eastern ports No. 1,2,7,8,9 were used as the example for inspection and evaluation, so as to elaborate on the feasibility of the method submitted in this paper and be used as the reference for the implementation of periodic inspections and repair in the future.
Through this study, an evaluation grade system to assess the degradation of the sheet-pile wharf and the method to repair the injury has been established. They can be used by the harbor engineers as the reference. It is hoped that this study will help institutionalize the maintenance and management of the sheet-pile wharf, reduce maintenance cost and enhance maintenance efficiency.
