碩士 / 國立臺灣海洋大學 / 導航與通訊系 / 93 / With the rapid development of mobile communications in recent years, people are able to surf over the internet anytime and anywhere. Therefore, mobile devices have a way to contact with Map Service Center. The most significant of mobile LBS (Location Based Service) is that its services may vary dependent on the different situation, demand, and location of individual users. The current bottleneck lies in how to provide appropriate information and service based on the understanding of the users’ location and demand. Challenges and problems include (1) how to make users’ operation easy. (2) Ready-maps do not have ability to change its content according to users’ requirements and location changes. (3) How to improve the location accuracy. (4) Current systems usually lack the ability of Location-aware service. (5) The screens of mobile devices are different, so how to support every mobile device. How to understand about user’s current precise position and request to provide suitable services for different users become a major challenge in the future. Therefore, this thesis proposes a comprehensive solution to those issues.
The system architecture consists of three parts, which are Mobile Clients、Map Service Center and Gateway Mobile Location Center. Java MIDP’s cell-phones are chosen as the target Mobile Clients for its popularity in current market and its support for both over-the-air (OTA) program updating and support Bluetooth technology. The Mobile Clients could communicate with Bluetooth GPS via Bluetooth technology. Therefore, our system operates both indoor/outdoors transparently to the users. GPS is an excellent rural positioning system while the GSM cellular positioning systems can provide indoor and urban coverage as well as outdoors. And we develop a mechanism to improve the accuracy of position that obtained from GSM cellular positioning systems.
