A Study for Operation Strategies of Eel Production Co-operative in Taiwan / 臺灣鰻魚生產合作社營運策略之研究

碩士 / 國立臺灣海洋大學 / 應用經濟研究所 / 93 / Eel is one of the important farmed aquatic species for export in Taiwan, the quantity and value of exported eel is about 20,000 t and 6.6 million NTD, respectively, in ten-year average. Regional eel production cooperatives, organized by full eel farmers of areas, could provide the direct service to meet the demand of farmers, and contribute greatly to the development of industry in early, but now due to shrinking functions under the shift of environment/time the eel production cooperatives are losing their power of influence.
The arising request for high quality of consuming products had forced small-scale fishery bodies as like eel farmers in Taiwan unite to develop for sustainability, as well as the depute of competitor of low production cost. The need for eel production cooperative appears again. This study was set forth to find out the operational merits of target cooperatives, by means of questionnaire and SWOT analysis, as to make some suitable decisions on operational improving strategy set.
The conclusions and correspondent suggestions based on this study are considered from issues of transformation of organization, reinforcement of operational functions and assist from government sector.
