碩士 / 中國醫藥大學 / 職業安全衛生學系碩士班 / 94 / There are 17 accidents (59%) resulted from flammable or combustible liquids in 29 accidents in Taiwan from 2004 to 2006, as reported by the Industrial Technology Research Institute. This study aimed at the safety of flammable and combustible liquids storage, transportation and operation for flammable and combustible liquids. The relevant regulations of Taiwan were compared with the codes, standards of the international community.
The results indicated that the requirements of packing are included in addition to the general requirement for assuming safety of transportation, but the relevant requirements are lack in Taiwan in the DOT. In the storage, the regulation of domestic, determine the safety distance based on the quantity of storage. By contrast, the quantity of storage is not the only concerned factor, the properties of liquid, the type of the tank the safety protection are considered by the NFPA 30.
In addition, it is found that there are many differences in the requirement of extinguisher equipment for the workplace of flammable and combustible liquids between domestic and the U.S.A.
