碩士 / 朝陽科技大學 / 財務金融系碩士班 / 94 / This paper applied a gravity model to estimate the influences of foreign direct investment (FDI), regional economical integration and cross-Taiwan straits relation on Taiwanese trade with 22 other countries during the period 1985-2003. The empirical results show that the outward FDI from Taiwan was complementary with trade, exports, and imports. However, the inward FDI to Taiwan was complementary only with trade. The inward FDI had positive effects on exports and imports. The membership of the APEC had positive effects on trade and imports. The cross-strait relation had negative effects on trade, exports, and imports.
