碩士 / 逢甲大學 / 水利工程所 / 94 / The established check dams used to less thoroughly protect fish ecology in Taiwan. Even though set up pool and weir type fishway in most cases, but this type of fishways is more easier to cause some problems such as sediment deposit or destruction with a powerful current. Besides, since lacking of understanding of the characteristics of indigenous fish ecology by researchers, the fishway usually results in failure and falls into disuse with minimal research evaluation after it’s establishment.
Thus, an experimental study to the modified Larinier fishway was conducted. A hydraulic model was set up to investigate the characteristics of hydraulic and the mechanism of sediment transport of the fishway. The purpose of the study is to find a suitable fishway for the indigenous fish species of Taiwan. The results can provide a reference for hydraulic engineers to design. Experimental results indicate that the slope of the upstream fishway approximating 1/8 is the best hydraulic condition for fish migration. This observation is the same as the results of previous study(Hu,2001).
The water depth and velocity of the modified Larinier fishway are more stable, and the rate of sediment removal is more efficient than the original fish-bone-type fishway. Considering the large variation of discharge and sediment of Taiwan’s rivers, the modified Larinier fishway provides a suitable hydraulic environment for fish migration.
