The operation procedures in the container terminal had been changed as well, they must provide more efficient services to meet the demand of larger containership.
This study focus on the efficiency and satisfaction effects of container terminals, two of the most efficient terminal operators at Kaohsiung have been selected as the samples of case study. Senior managers of both of the terminals are interviewed to find out the factors influence the terminal operation efficiency and how satisfied they are concerning these factors.
The result shows there are at least 25 factors should be considered in terminal operation, also the answers collected from the questionnaires shown how satisfied they are. The methodology of Likert scale has been used to draw their strategic positions in respect to the importance and the satisfaction of these factors. As a result, the most important factors are discovered. These factors are the management system, quality of staffs and the flows of containers in the container terminal. These factors are most important to improve the service quality of terminal operations and to meet the demand of customers.
