The effects of microalgae and photosynthetic bacteria on the survival, growth, feeding and settlement of oyster larvae, Crassostrea gigas / 微細藻類與光合細菌對長牡蠣(Crassostreagigas)幼生活存、成長、攝食及附著之影響

碩士 / 國立嘉義大學 / 水產生物學系研究所 / 94 / The purpose of this study was to use different live diets and density to feed oyster larvae. These results can provide a preliminary data for the rearing of larvae oyster in Taiwan in the future. The present experiment are divided into 3 parts.
The first part was conducted on the effects of feeding photosynthetic bacteria (Rhodopseudomonas sp. ) and I. galbana on the survival of D-stage larvae (shell length, 62.4±5.5μm). The results show that highest survival rate was recorded for the group of mixed 22.00 % at D-stage larvae, but was not significantly different from the group of I. galbana (21.3%) and photosynthetic bacteria (500 ppm, 20.6%).
The secend part was conducted on the effects of six algae and six densities on the survival, feeding rate and growth rate of umbo-stage larvae (shell length, 159.6±7.5μm). The highest survival (33.3%) is occurred at group of I. galbana (10.0×104cells/ml) and I. galbana+C. muelleri (2.5×104cells/ml). The highest growth rate were 30% and occurred at the group of I. galbana+C. muelleri (2.5×104cells/ml). The lower feeding rate were occurred at T. chui.
The third part was conducted on the effects of six alage and six densities on the setting rate of eyed larvae (shell length, 346.0±11.5μm). The highest settlement rate (26.8%) was recorded for the group of I. galbana (7.5×104cells/ml).
In general speakings, in present results show that larvae of oyster in D-stage could fed on Rhodopseudomonas sp. to substitute for 50 % of I. galbana and have the same survival. In the umbo-stage and eyed larvae, I. galbana has a better survival, feeding, and growth settlement. Therefore, larvae should be fed mainly on I. galbana and supplement with other algae in the rearing period. The best density of algae to feed larvae is below 7.5×104 cells/ml. And higher density than that will lead to the mass mortality of larvae.
