The effect of dietary levels of Chinese medicine, licorice and the glycyrrhizin extracted from licorice on the growth and immune response of white shrimp, Litopenaeus vannamei / 飼料中添加不同的甘草量及甘草抽出物對白蝦成長與免疫的影響

碩士 / 國立臺灣海洋大學 / 水產養殖學系 / 94 / There were four experiments in this study. The levels of dietary licorice for maximum weight gain of juvenile Litopeaneus vannamei were conducted in experiment I. Five isoenergetic and isonitrogenous diets with licorice levels ranging from 0 to 2% in 0.5% increments were evaluated. White shrimp fed treatment diets had no significant difference in weight gain. However, shrimp fed diet containing 0.5% licorice had the highest weight gain (1288%). Survival ranged from 78 to 95%. Shrimp fed diet without licorice supplemented had the lowest survival (65%).
The levels of dietary glycyrrhizin for maximum weight gain of juvenile Litopeaneus vannamei were conducted in experimentⅡ. Glycyrrhizin was extracted from licorice. Seven isoenergetic and isonitrogenous diets with glycyrrhizin levels ranging from 0 to 0.5% in 0.1% increments and one diet with 0.05% glycyrrhizin supplement were evaluated. White shrimp fed diets containing different levels of glycyrrhizin also showed no significant difference in weight gain. Shrimp fed diet containing 0.3% glycyrrhizin had the highest weight gain (4736%). Survival ranged from 70 to 85%. Shrimp fed with diet without glycyrrhizin supplemented had the lowest survival (55%).
The different mixture levels of licorice/cholesterol for maximum weight gain of juvenile Litopeaneus vannamei were conducted in experiment Ⅲ. Five isoenergetic and isonitrogenous diets with mixture levels of licorice/cholesterol ranging from 0/1.5 to 1.5/0%. White shrimp fed with diet containing 0/1.5% had the significantly higher weight gain (824%)than those fed other treatments. Survival ranged from 83 to 95%.
The effects of licorice on non-specific immune response of Litopeaneus vannamei by oral administration were conducted in experiment Ⅳ. The immunological parameters, such as the superoxide anion(O2-)、phenoloxidase(PO)、Cholesterol(CHOL)and the total haemocyte count (THC),were measured. The results showed that O2- and CHOL of white shrimp had the significantly higher than those of control group. PO and THC of white shrimp fed treatment groups had no significant higher than those of control group.
