碩士 / 國立臺灣海洋大學 / 水產養殖學系 / 94 / Abstract

In order to understand the kind of leptocephali in the eastern waters off Taiwan and distribution situation, we collected leptocephali in waters along eastern Taiwan from June 2003 to October 2004 by the research vessel R/V Fishery Researcher I. In this study, we collected 20 species belonging to 9 family including Muraenidae 2 species, Synaphobranchidae 1 species, Ophichthyidae 4 species, Derichthyidae 1 species, Muraenesocidae 2 species, Nemichthyidae 1 species, Congridae 7 species and Nettastomatidae 1 species and Cyematidae 1 species. Leptocephali of 5 families cannot be found in waters around Taiwan in the past time, they are Synaphobranchidae, Derichthyidae, Muraenesocidae, Nemichthyidae and Cyematidae.

Muraenidae 2 species, Derichththyidae 1 species and Congridae 5 species can be identified to family level. Myrophinae(Ophichthyidae) 4 species can be identified to subfamily level. Dysomma(Synaphobranchidae)1 species and Ariosoma(Congridae) 2 species can be identified to genera level. Only Muraenesox cinereus, M. bagio, Nemichthys scolopaceus), Saurenchelys lateromaculatus and Cyema atrum can be identified to species level. And these leptocephali of 5 species cannot be found in waters around Taiwan. Specially, adult fish of Saurenchelys lateromaculatus and Cyema atrum cannot be found in waters around Taiwan, either.

Because the taxonomy of leptocephali is difficult and leptocephali have various in style to make a variation greatly, some species only can be identified to family or genera level.
