Vitamin D requirements of juvenile grouper, Epinephelus malabaricus / 石斑魚稚魚維生素D之需求

碩士 / 國立臺灣海洋大學 / 食品科學系 / 94 / Vitamin D3 (cholecalciferol) was added into basal diet at 0, 200, 400, 600, 800, 1000, 1500 and 2100 IU D/kg diet provding the actual dietary value of 2.7, 241.1, 458.8, 635.7, 898.2, 1052.5, 1601.5 and 2189.2 IU D/kg diet, respectively. Each diet was fed to triplicate groups of Epinephelus malabaricus (initial body weight 11.54 ± 0.20 g) in a non-recirculated rearing system for 8 weeks. Results indicated that groupers fed diet supplemented with 635.7, 898.2 and 1052.5 IU D/kg diet had significantly (p<0.05) higher weight gain (WG) than fish fed diets with 2189.2 IU D/kg and the unsupplemented control diet. Feed efficiency (FE) and protein efficiency ratio (PER) in fish fed diets with 635.7, 898.2 and 1052.5 IU D/kg were both higher than fish fed the control diet. Condition factor (CF) in fish fed diets with 898.2 and 1052.5 IU D/kg was higher than fish fed the control diet. Red blood cells (RBC) and hematocrit (Hct) in fish fed diets with ≧458.8 IU D/kg were higher than the other dietary groups; hemoglobin (Hb) and mean corpuscular volume (MCV) in fish fed diets with ≧241.1 IU D/kg were higher than fish fed the control diet. Both whole body and hepatic vitamin D concentrations in fish were increased with the increase of dietary vitamin D levels. Plasma alkaline phosphatase (ALP) activity was highest in fish fed diets with ≧458.8 IU D/kg, followed by fish fed diets with 241.1 IU D/kg and lowest in fish fed the control diet. Tetany was not observed in fish fed diets with ≧458.8 IU D/kg. Analysis by broken-line regression of weight gain and alkaline phosphatase activity against the analyzed dietary vitamin D concentration indicated that the optimal dietary vitamin D requirements for juvenile grouper is approximately 500-680 IU/kg diet.
