In recent years, because of the influence of global competition, global logistics management (GLM) becomes relatively important, and the main transportation of GLM includes aircrafts, ships, trains and trucks etc. The ships have the most loading capacities among these transportations, so that most consignors transport their products to all parts of the world through ships. Therefore, marine transportation plays a critical role in GLM. All consignors hope to transport the products to destination quickly, safely, and economically, so that enhance the competitive ability of their products in the international market. The consignors may look for the carrier to deal with the transportation of their products by themselves or freight forwarders. It is a very important decision to find the appropriate carrier who can satisfy the consignor’s demand. However, the requests for each batch products are different. It has to spend a lot of time to make this decision every time. Usually, it can not make the consignors satisfied. In order to solve this problem which occurs frequently and spends much time, this project would develop an intelligent decision support system to assist the relevant decision makers. We will construct the reasoning engine of this system through structured query language and fuzzy decision theory. First, the rules set of the consignor’s requests will be discovered by structured query language. According to these rules, the system can find the carriers set who can satisfy the consignor’s requests. Furthermore, the most appropriate carrier will be decided from the carriers set by the fuzzy decision theory. This intelligent decision support system will enable the decision maker to obtain the decision suggestion rapidly through simple computer operation.
