A Study of Comparison of Higher Maritime Education between Taiwan and Japan / 我國與日本高等海事教育比較之研究

碩士 / 國立臺灣海洋大學 / 商船學系所 / 94 / The purpose of this study is to probe into the higher maritime education systems of Taiwan and Japan, focusing on in-depth understanding of the education systems and content of courses in both countries. The objectives for this study are: (1) to collect and analyze documents related to higher maritime affairs in Taiwan and Japan, (2) to explore the developmental process, current situation, characteristics of system, problems, and training of navigation staff, (3) to compare the similarities and differences in school structures and educational system between the two countries, and (4) to propose, after synthesis and analysis, a research method in accordance with our national situation and demand, which is useful in the cultivation and improvements of maritime staff for all levels of maritime schools and their administrative organizations.
This study is conducted mainly relying on literature review and research comparison through collection and analysis of domestically and internationally published reports, journal articles, periodicals, and documents from the internet. The current higher maritime education systems in Taiwan and Japan are thus compared and analyzed in the expectation that constructive suggestions for better Taiwan higher maritime education system and future maritime development can be made.
