The Design of MRT Transfer System Based on Bus Holding Strategies / 應用公車停等策略在大眾運輸轉乘系統之研究

碩士 / 國立臺灣科技大學 / 工業管理系 / 94 / With the emergence of global positioning system (GPS), several technologies were developed to improve the convenience of travelers. In particular, the intelligent transportation systems (ITS) focusing on information technology have huge impact on public transportation systems. Real-time traffic information acquired by ITS help us to simulate the bus holding strategies in the MRT transfer system.
In order to enhance the performance of the MRT transfer system, the connecting vehicles were held in a short period of time for the passengers from the incoming vehicle to take the connecting vehicle. In this research, we begin with collecting the riderships of the major traffic lines from Taipei’s MRT system and choose the transfer system that has high riderships with research feasibility as model. Next, we use the GPS data collected by the Taipei e-bus system to run statistics analysis, and utilize the system simulation software to build the real world MRT transfer model. Moreover, we add functions with different holding strategies to the simulation models, and use different traveling time functions of vehicle at different time in the transfer models to construct proposed transfer models with holding strategies. Finally, we evaluate the performance of the holding strategies for transfer models by comparing waiting time for passengers with simulation.
The simulation results show that executing the holding strategies in the transfer system indeed improve the performance of MRT transfer system by reducing traveling time and waiting time for passengers. The holding strategies assisted by ITS were implementable and have excellent performance.
