碩士 / 中國文化大學 / 景觀學系碩士班 / 95 / The estuary of Tamshui River is rich in unique and representative ecological resource, and it is worthy to conserve. In the recent years, the area surrounding the Tamsui River estuary is under a great pressure of development, much due to the population growth and economic development. It is observable that a substantial amount of land has been transformed from vegetation into buildup area. The purposes of this research are placed on examining the land cover change of the area surrounding the Tamshui River estuary, and on empirical testing the driving forces of the land cover change. This research starts with using the 1995 and 2002 Landsat Remote Sensing data to identify the types of land covers and their changes. Next, the factors which may influence the land cover change are identified and the data are collected. Then, a Logit model with land cover change as a dependent variable (i.e. a dummy variable with changing from vegetation into buildup area = 1, otherwise = 0) and with slope, elevation, and accessibility measures as independent variables are identified and estimated with LIMDEP software package. The major findings are: (1)NDVI is significantly related to the types of land uses;(2)Slope, elevation, and the accessibility are the major factors affecting the change of land cover from vegetation to buildup areas. The lower the slope and elevation, the higher the probability to change vegetation into buildup area; the higher the accessibility to rapid transit station, the higher he probability to change vegetation into buildup area.(3)Transportation convenience in general is the key factor to driving land cover change.
