A Study on Relationship of Business Competition Advantage, FDI Motivation and Network Strategy in the Host Country – An Empirical Study of Taiwanese Firms in Vietnam / 企業優勢、海外投資動機與投資當地網絡策略互動關係之研究-以台商越南投資之實證研究

碩士 / 國立雲林科技大學 / 企業管理系碩士班 / 94 / In the internationalization and globalization age, foreign investment is very popular for the Taiwanese enterprises. These enterprises constantly keep moving toward the south of Southeast Asia in recent years. It is not only because that the scale of the enterprises has reached a certain level, but the network is also an important reason that urges Taiwan’s capital outflow. When the enterprises broaden their investing territory, in order to overcome the weakness from unfamiliarity to the new environment, it is important to transfer the necessary resources from the inner, consider the assistance of the network relationship, and obtaining the complementary external resources from the local market.
This research is based on the view of resource theory and complements the relevant theories of the network relationship, the motivation theory of foreign investment, and the strategies of enterprise network. It treats the effect on the motivation of Taiwan’s enterprises which invest in Vietnam and have the strength from the advantages of resources and network relationship to perform foreign investment, and the effect on the interaction of network strategy in the host country.
The research collects the samples by mailing questionnaire. The research objects are Taiwanese businessmen who invest and actually operate business in Vietnam. 532 questionnaires were mailed to Taiwan and Vietnam, and 70 were valid. The data was collected from the questionnaires and analysed by the statistical method of Factor analysis, cluster analysis, analysis of variance, and regression analysis.
According to the results of this study, several conclusions were made as followings:
1. Market-oriented motivation is the major factor that mostly drives Taiwanese businessmen to invest in Vietnam.
2. Taiwanese enterprises which have more advantages are positively related to the three Vietnam investment motives: efficiency-oriented, resources-oriented, and strategy-oriented.
3. Taiwanese enterprises with the motives of strategy-oriented and market-oriented pay more attention to the network strategy in the host country.
4. Taiwanese enterprises with the motives of efficiency-oriented are not related to the network strategy in the host country.
5. The strengths or weakness of the advantages of Taiwanese enterprises and the foreign investment motivation have influences on the network strategy in Vietnam.
