Tudigong also is the most universal worship god in present Taiwan’s folk custom. Therefore Tudigong temple is established generally in the villages, towns and cities to protect the agriculture, the land and govern the economy.
However the related research about Tudigong temple is extremely limited. Its existence always is taken as a nature because of its universal and belongs to the basic unit god standard. Moreover, the most existing literature all put more emphasis on researching folk custom or the religious, seldom have the discussion from the constructive type. Therefore, it comes a initiation to study Tudigong Temple – a traditional Taiwanese religious construction. Attempt to having a recording and research about how Tudigong Temple’s construction change.
This research intend to using regional, characteristic, racial point and relatively diagnosis research technique to proceed “mountain line & submarine cable” and “Minnan & Hakkas”, these two field investigations of Tudigong Temple’s constructive type within Yunlin county. Under these two comparisons main axles, we can know how Tudigong Temple change on constructive type, establish on architecture shape, use other different materials and improve on production technology and clarify the diversification and diss/similarities that these two axles may affect from the structure development. Combine these points, what the preliminary achievements we complete as follows:
1. The basic data records about Tudigong Temple’s changing progress in mountain line, submarine line and Hakkas area in Yunlin County.
2. In view of construction type and characteristic, compare the similarities and differences between mountain line and submarine cable’s Tudigong Temple.
3. In view of construction type and characteristic, compare the similarities and differences between Minnan and Hakkas area’s Tudigong Temple.
4. Sums up the developing significance of Tudigong Temple’s structural and the construction types in Yunlin Area.
