碩士 / 中山醫學大學 / 營養學研究所 / 95 / Alga is a natural and popular food. People know that blue-green algae and green algae are rich in vitamins and minerals . Dunaliella salina is a bright red algae. This study was focused on the antioxidation, anti-cancer and anti-aging ability of Dunaliella salina . Results showed that antioxidant activity of Dunaliella salina was similar to all-trans-carotene. By the analysis of high performance liquid chromatography, Dunaliella salina was found containing all-trans-β-carotene, 9-cis-β-carotene, α- carotene, lutein and zeaxanthin. All-trans-β-carotene and 9-cis-β-carotene was abundant in Dunaliella salina. Extract of Dunaliella salina caused apoptosis of Oral Squamous carcinoma cell (KB cell) and showed dose-depended manner. In addition, extract of Dunaliella salina also showed inhibition on the expression of COX-2. The blue light irradiation (wavelength of 450nm) model showed that human retinal pigment epithelial cell line (ARPE-19 cells) was repaired by the extract of Dunaliella salina.
