Real-Time Vehicle Location Tracking System –A Practical Application on ITS-APTS (Advanced Public Transportation System) / 即時定位追蹤系統在智慧型運輸系統之應用-以先進大眾運輸系統為例

碩士 / 國立高雄應用科技大學 / 電子與資訊工程研究所碩士班 / 95 / The “Real-Time Vehicle Location Tracking System” is constructed from 3iBox System, Message-Exchanging Server, GIS (Geographic Information System) Server and MIS (Management Information System) Server. The 3iBox System installed on cars is responsible for transmitting location information (including speed, direction, time and position), gathered from GPS, to the back-end servers via GPRS wireless communication and the Internet. The Vehicle Message-Exchanging Server creates multi-threads to process the position information of the tracking vehicles received from the front-end 3iBox systems. The GIS Server calculates the real-time positioning data, including the spatial coordinates, real-time location, driving speed, and vehicle status, for producing the relative maps. The MIS Server includes fleet management, customer management, organization management, driver and fleet planning, and financial management and statistical analysis. Customers can use this system to help their daily business. Furthermore, they can develop their own management modules linked to the system by using suitable API (Application Programming Interface).

The system can be applied to various kinds of commercial fleet management, such as real-time positioning system of buses, taxi-dispatching system, and freight dispatching system. It can calculate the optimal driving routes, improve the dispatching efficiency, increase the passenger carrying-rate of taxies and reduce the gasoline consuming and air pollution. The practical result is to decrease the whole social cost that can be seen and found in many projects conducted by Ministry of
Transportation and Communications.
