Historical Analysis for the International Role Transformation of Taiwan Strait / 台灣海峽國際角色變遷之歷史研究-從文明衝突角度分析

碩士 / 國立中興大學 / 國際政治研究所 / 95 / This article is to study the change of the international role played by the Taiwan Strait, putting emphasis on and stress the factor of the conflict of civilizations, which is the key factor in this research. This research also considers that religious belief has the core value by which a civilization is formed. Therefore, special attention is paid on the two major civilizations in this sea area, that is to make a comparison between the Chinese Confucianism civilization and the western Christian Protestantism civilization. From the viewpoint of international political relations, the factor of geopolitics in this sea area, the factor of the civilizations of Japan, South Korea, Hongkong, even that of Singapore and countries of East Asia are also among the various subjects in the scope of this research; hence the Japanese Shintoism civilization, and even the Islam civilization of the countries of Southeast Asia are covered by the subjects of this research, a comparison and an analysis of the phenomenon of the political identification of being foes or friends caused by the syncretism or repulsion of different civilizations. However, this research is, after all, to study the issue of international political relations, it is bound to return from studying and analyzing the factor of the conflict of civilizations to the fundamental of the relations among the political entities and countries in the said sea area. It is hoped that with the connotation of the conflict of civilizations, the contents of the research on the change of the role played by the Taiwan Strait are further enriched and provide a viewpoint which is conducive to a richer and more accurate research on the role of the Taiwan Strait in the international arena. Besides, due to the bringing up of the theory of the conflict of civilization, there exists a dialectical relation between the setting of topics and the ideologists who advocate history will certainly end up in democracy and peace, the trustfulness theory brought up by them will also be quoted and discussed in the article.
