A Study on the Antecedents of Group Cohesiveness
in the Patrol Area of Coast Guard Administration

For the Coast Guard Administration, each leader and member of the units bears the decretory responsibility that is entitled to the governmental organization. As far as this is concerned, a cohesive work team is no doubt a tendency of the times. However, the Coast Guard Administration has made a plenty of achievements under the leadership of each minister since it was established in 2000, yet the Patrol Group responsible for investigation of smuggling and illegal immigration seem to still fight alone and mind their affairs only in their own region. Negotiation becomes a form of bureaucracy, and cooperation is just presented by perfunctory action. Moreover, there are some events concerning departmental egoism recently, and even members in different Patrol Group scramble for the purpose of exploit and performance. These not only become news events, but also affect the image of organization. In fact, the core problem lacks “Group Cohesiveness”.

The researches adopt questionnaire investigation and Purposive Sampling, and the research will be taken among one of the coast patrol corps and offshore flotillas under regional coastal patrol offices.
