The Learning Motivation and Satisfaction for On-job-graduate Students: An Empirical Study at Institute of Shipping and Transportation Management in NKMU / 碩士在職學生學習動機與滿意度研究─以國立高雄海洋科技大學航運管理研究所為例─

The market of research institutes are growing up rapidly in Taiwan. However, the enrollment policy become difficult in whole educational system due to the amount of new born baby is descending. Consequently, the research of motivation and satisfactory of learning prove to be an important topic under the conditions to keeping the superiority for competition among institutes.
In this thesis, the motivation and satisfactory of learning for the on-job-graduate students are investigated, that questionnaire has been used to analysis the relations between the motivations and satisfactions among the difference background of the on-job-students in the Institute of Shipping and Transportation Management (STM) in National Kaohsiung Marine University (NKMU).
The methodologies are Describing Statistics, Factor Analysis and Grey Rational Analysis (GRA). It shows that there are 8 influential factors of motivations including satisfactions of seeking knowledge, increasing of specialization, raising salary and promotion, learning the second specialty, for the living existence, promoting selfhood, social contact, avoided stimulating, and external expectation. Furthermore, there are 6 influential factors of satisfactions including the teaching skill, the courses, the relations of social intercourse, the effects of learning, the service of administration, and the environment of education.
The on-job-graduate student of STM evaluate the “the teaching skill” with the highest score, and “the courses, the relations of social intercourse, the effects of learning, the environment of education” are also get the high scores in sequence, and “the service of administration” is inferior to others. That shows the adjustment of personnel matters is necessary for more administrative efficiency in NKMU and STM.
The difference analysis of motivations and satisfactions among graduate students show that the more motivations in STM, the more satisfactions in learning at this institute for those on-job-graduate students. The results of the thesis will provide some useful suggestions for further development on the enrollment policy and the structure design of graduate courses.
