碩士 / 國立高雄師範大學 / 視覺傳達設計研究所 / 95 / Taiwan has acquired the chance to host the 8th World Games in 2009 in its southern city Kaohsiung despite the diplomacy difficulties it has long been in. It's the first time for Taiwan to host such an international games and to provide learning opportunities and an international stage for designers to gain their experiences and broaden their visions to create works with international prospect. The main idea of this work is to explore how to analyse elements of this game and its host city, and to integrate those elements in designs.
This work try to combine the spirit of Kaohiung and World Games with the approach found in the evolution of Olympic posters via studying related papers and documents. It contains 3 main category: official posters, in which the ideal of World Games and its symbol are stressed, cultural posters, which focus on the atmosphere and image of Kaohsiung as a coastal city, and posters of all categories of sports. All posters are designed with elements such as ocean, architecture, traditional cotton print, ships and Chinese characters. In the attempt to balance spirits of the games and the city, pictographic Chinese characters stand out, with its exllent resemblance of motions of sports, as a best media to connect the image of the games and its host city.
