The Mourning for the Dying Conservation of Wildlife of Taiwan: Lin Ching-Yu's Discourse on the Poster Design / 慟!台灣生態之殤-凌青玉海報創作論述

碩士 / 國立高雄師範大學 / 視覺傳達設計研究所 / 95 / As population rapidly grows and human technology advances, human beings are unaware of their greedy extortion and destruction of the silent nature. The acceleration of global warming has caused various kinds of pollution problems including air, water, noise and waste as well as ecological problems such as ozone depletion, climate change (El Ninos), abrupt decrease and extinction in forest and living species, acid rain, desertification, water and soil erosion, silt deposit and freshwater insufficiency. Since Taiwan is an island state, submergence of territory as a result of global warming has become its most potential natural crisis. Ecological preservation issues thus must be taken into actions rather than discussed merely on paper. This project, therefore, focuses on Taiwan’s ecology using posters as main promotion, aiming to probe into the causes of the extinction of Taiwanese endemic mammiferous species and its related preservation issues. It develops five series of creation works: “Give Me a Hand,” “Native: Taiwan,” “Thriving Bears: Natural Disasters,” “Inedible,” and “Word Painting,” in the hope that the posters can convey and promote the concept of preservation to make a contribution to the efforts of Taiwan’s ecological preservation.
