碩士 / 國立屏東教育大學 / 中國語文學系碩士班 / 95 / LIN, Hai-yin (1918-2001) is famous for edition and publication in Taiwan literary circle in the past half century, and also gains a high international reputation by the book, “Memories of Peking: South Side Stories,” she is the important representative of women writers postwar. While touching upon LIN, Hai-yin’s contribution toward the development of Taiwan Literature, which primarily focus on the achievements of edition and publication and her writer identity and creation lacks manifestation relatively. This essay will return to LIN, Hai-yin’s writer identity to manifest her creation viewpoint of “Liberal Humanism,” explore the theme, context, and art value of her novels, and also evaluate the issues of women literature. This essay is divided into six chapters:
Chapter One “Exordium”: it is divided into “Research Motive and Purpose,” “Literature Review,” and “Research Scope & Chapter and Section Structure.”
Chapter Two “The Writing Course and Editing Publication Career of LIN, Hai-yin”: to explore and analyze the background and source of the writer’s affection toward literature, objective reports during her reporter career and the subjective creation after stepping across literary and arts, and also touch upon the affect on Taiwan Literature inheritance and in publication industry by LIN, Hai-yin’s editing publication career according to “Writing Course,” and “Editing Publication Career” these two sections respectively.
Chapter Three “The Theme and Context of LIN, Hai-yin’s novels”: to analyze and discuss by the four sections, “Recall the Life in Hometown Peking,” “Taiwan Society Outlook Concern,” “Deplore the Distress in Marriage and Love,” and “Enthusiasm and Devotion in Children Education” separately. The hometown life in Peking is to recall the childhood memory in the hometown and the expression of affections; Taiwan living outlook displays everyman’s life of the fifties in Taiwan; the distress in marriage and love reflects the marriage problems of new as well as old times; as for the enthusiasm toward children education, it’s the behavior that the writer shows her concern about school and family children education.
Chapter Four “Women Issues and Its Meaning of Times in LIN, Hai-yin’s Novel”: to go to the bottom of the three sections, “Types of Women Characters,” “Inspecting the Viewpoint toward Two Sexes,” and “The Meaning of Times of Women Writing,” separately. The types of women characters reflect the writer’s preference in molding female figures; inspection on the viewpoints of two sexes observes the rivalship between patriarchal culture and woman entity; female writing’s meaning of times exhibits the importance of LIN, Hai-yin in the history of Taiwan women novel developments.
Chapter Five, “The Art Characteristics in LIN, Hai-yin’s novels”: to analyze the three sections, “Contrast Techniques,” “Symbolization,” “Art of Language” respectively. Contrast techniques for the comparison and analysis between figures and space-time, exhibiting the art effect of the novel creation; symbolization, aiming at different images of things to expound and discover the inner meaning of the novels; language performance, revealing the flexible and exact characteristic of her novels by Peking dialect and the deployment of dialects and slang as well as the blending of the epistolary style.
Chapter Six, “Conclusion”: to conclude LIN, Hai-yin’s position and value in the Taiwan novel history in accordance with the three sections, “Realism Style of Humanity Care,” “Contribution on Lying Foundation on Women Novel,” and “The Historical Meaning of Nostalgic Subject Matter.”
