The purpose of this study is to use the aquaculture of oyster, the economical valuable products, as the index for monitoring the sea shore pollution. By which, the pollution due to the aquaculture of oyster in Taiwan sea shore is discussed. In addition, the related concepts and law of international ocean pollution are also considered as the reference to discuss the current laws for prevention and treatment of pollution on aquaculture in Taiwan; the mechanism and management on law of water pollution of in-land and ocean aquaculture and furthermore for the establishment of the draft laws of aquaculture in Taiwan sea shore. Hopefully, the results can give a solid suggestion on mechanism and performance of the current and future laws of sea shore aquaculture in Taiwan. The materials and methods used in this study are firstly to do categories, analysis and finally to make a comparison of different laws and regulations of water pollution in Taiwan. The current situation of pollution due to oyster aquaculture is also described. The condition of continuous threat on the sea shore pollution caused by the rapid developing industrial manufactories are also discussed. Therefore management and control of the environmental pollution by laws are demanded in order to have a better ocean environment which will facilitate to the oyster aquaculture. In addition, the traditional international laws, particular the related laws established in 1982, and prevention of ocean pollution laws are also compared and discussed. Furthermore we expect that the results of this article will provide the reference materials for the related authorities for establishment or revision of the laws or regulations of aquaculture in Taiwan.
