碩士 / 國立臺灣海洋大學 / 海洋資源管理研究所 / 95 / Taiwan is surrounded by the sea. The livelihood of coastal residents depends on fishery very much. In tradition, the fishing port is seen as the base of fishery. In these years, the fishing port changes its original character to multiple functional one. However, the fishing port pollution is getting more and more serious due to many factors such as incomplete legislation, inappropriate planning of surroundings, and unconscious of the importance of environment protection for users of fishing ports.
Recently, the recreational fishery and the ecotourism become more and more popular Taiwan. The people here are getting closer to the sea, and the fishing port is one of the media. Thus, it demands immediate attention to improve the environment quality in the fishing port. However, the relevant policies, laws or regulations to combat the port pollution are incomplete, as well as the system of environmental management in the fishing port are still immature.
In response to these problems, the main tasks of this research are conducting the investigation to identify the current status and the sources of marine pollution in the fishing ports of Taiwan, exploring the related management strategies in domestic institutions and foreign countries, combining with suggestion from experts and stakeholders, and then developing the integrated strategies of marine pollution control for Taiwan’s fishing ports. The results of this study will be helpful to the formation of pollution control policies of Taiwanese fishing port in the future.
